Just four years ago, at the age of 53, I found myself starting to slip into the spell of believing that my “time to shine” was starting to pass me by, and quickly took myself through the essence coaching process again, only to powerfully reawaken my resplendence.

This experience, bolstered by what I see as a coach with my clients and with my friends as we continue to age, has powerfully prompted me to redirect my coaching with an undeterred passion to specifically support middle-aged women.

I have noticed that even the most confident of women start to feel the tug of overt and covert societal messages in some form telling them as early as in their late-40s to step aside and make room for the younger women coming up behind them.

This perceived “expiration date” shows up in a multitude of ways from professional advancement and actualizing long-held dreams to health and vitality, beauty and radiance, finding romantic love, and even creative expression.

More troubling is that at the same time, more often than not, we as women only begin to consider creating a life with ourselves in mind when we hit middle-age. And so, our yearning to find and step into our purpose is happening at the very same time that we are being told that time has passed us by.

Time has not passed us by, this is a damaging myth that continues to endure, even in the face of countless (countless) women thriving well into and beyond their middle-age. Just as significantly, research shows that there is a New Prime but society has simply not caught up. (can “New Prime hyperlink to the “New Prime” section of the page?)

My Coaching Background
I have worked as a certified Leadership Development, Career, Life and Essence Coach for close to 20 years now, as well as a facilitator of women and girl’s groups. During this time, I have witnessed countless individuals courageously bring heartfelt desires to reality, and I continue to be awed by the power within each of us to make our dreams come true.

My coaching experience, and my life experience, have taught me this: Each and every one of us shares one thing in common, the yearning to live a meaningful life. As a coach, my role is to guide clients toward transforming that yearning into reality. I could not be more honored or privileged to do the work that I do.

My Credentials
I am credentialed as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaches Federation (ICF), the accrediting body for the coaching industry, and also credentialed as a certified Life, Career, and Executive Coach through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), the first training organization to be accredited by the ICF. Most recently, I became certified as a Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

My Philosophy and Approach
Regardless of the type of coaching that I provide a client, everything that I do is underpinned by the belief that It is Everyone’s Birthright to Live a Deeply Rich and Rewarding Life. As a coach, it is my job to inspire and empower individuals to claim that right. And from that place, together, we begin a process to powerfully turn yearnings and dreams into reality. Because I believe that we each have the answers within us to powerfully transform our lives, my style is partnership based, rather than directive. Put simply, I meet my clients where they are on their life’s journey, help them to clarify exactly where they yearn to be, and then support them to get there.

My clients often refer to me as both an intuitive and action-oriented coach. I call on both of these aspects of myself throughout the coaching process. Specifically, I ask my clients a lot of questions and share a multitude of coaching tools with them that help remove unsupportive self-concepts, perceptions, and “shoulds” to reveal their truth and a clarity that has been within them all along. An analogy that beautifully demonstrates this process is Michelangelo’s explanation on how he created the statue of David. Michelangelo explained that he did not create David, he merely chipped away at the marble that wasn’t David, until David was revealed.

My Process
Typically, I work with my clients during two, monthly, 60-minute virtual sessions, held either by phone or Zoom (it is entirely up to them), and I give ‘assignments’ between sessions to keep things powerfully moving forward. In some instances, clients request weekly sessions, sessions once a month, or even weekly soundbite sessions (20-minute sessions). My clients are my heroes. They constantly remind me of the inherent power within each of us to create a life of great meaning and deep fulfillment.

My Story

Many years ago, after having put all of my energy into constructing a “perfect” life by society’s standards, I woke one day to realize that I felt frighteningly and painfully desolate on the inside, with no connection to who I really was. Prompted by the pain, I designed and took myself through a process that introduced me to myself in a deeply connected and unique way. From there, I was able to create a life aligned with the core of who I am, devoid of the opinions of others, society’s dictums, and “shoulds,” and instead full of my joys, values, and meaningful purpose. I had discovered my essence. Experiencing my own success, I began to take other women through an essence coaching process individually and in workshops, to support their transformation. I am committed to leading an Essence-Aligned life and am equally as devoted to helping other women do the same.
Fast forward to my middle-age…

The New Prime
Are you a middle-aged woman? Somewhere between your late 40s and late 60’ish years of age? When it comes to living the life of your dreams, or being at your personal best, or feeling and looking gorgeous, do you feel that time has passed you by?
I have news for you…

Actually, the exact time is now for you to take the center stage of your life. Did you know that in 2018 the New England Journal of Medicine found that women are actually at their most productive – aka, creative, effective, dynamic - when they are between 60 and 70 years old? There is more exciting research being done about this today and there are countless examples of women that have found their stride in the middle years, but society’s messaging has simply not caught up.

Instead, they tell us that the bloom has started to fall off of our rose, that we have had our time to shine and either we seized it, or we didn’t, and that drive and dreams belong to the generation behind us, telling us that it is our time to step aside and make room for our more youthful counterparts to take the center stage.

In fact, research shows that 7 out of 10 middle-aged women, starting in their early 50s in the US, suffer from “Invisible Woman Syndrome,” a feeling that people are starting to literally no longer see them (both personally and professionally).

And so, we are pitted against ourselves and our yearnings and dreams, pitted against younger women who are just living their lives but silently, sometimes resented by us, and even pitted against one another born of envy toward those that have dared to shine anyway.
What is a woman to do? First, remove the competition, resentment, and envy by recognizing that there is enough center stage to go around for each and every woman at each and every age.

Next, we each need to connect with and learn to harness an innate power within us, our Essence, empowering us to reclaim ownership of our lives to take our center stage, in our way, on our terms, at our exact age.

We are each sovereigns in our own right, meant to take up our crowns and …wear them.

"I have been working with Lindsay since 2020. She has been an amazing resource through so many big life changes from working as an ER nurse during COVID, a move across the country, a wedding, a marriage, and my first pregnancy. I have felt supported yet challenged to grow. I am so grateful to have Lindsay's kind and thoughtful approach to coaching in my life.  – Paige B.

Supported Yet Challenged

"Lindsay clearly applied her wisdom and authentic presence in service to my challenges when I was at an important crossroads in my life. The trust she developed in our sessions allowed me to integrate new perspectives and led me down a path where I have been able to capture my potential. As I reflect on my life, I can honestly and deeply attribute Lindsay's coaching in helping me stay true to what has served me best, where I can express myself and create a life of great meaning. Immense gratitude! — Kendra P.
